Touring Pacific Beach And Ocean Beach Bars On August Saturdays

If you’re cruising around the San Diego beaches this August and see a bunch of fun people cruising past you on red Strand cruisers, or if you see Bud Light bikes parked in front of bars, then go on in and join the party.
It’s the Bud Light summer bicycle bar crawl, in conjunction with Rock 105, that is visiting fun pubs on Saturdays. I joined up for a ride through Ocean Beach the second Saturday, and two additional ones are planned for Aug. 17 and 24 in Pacific Beach.
In Ocean Beach, we hit six bars, mostly around the pier, tied into the California Beach Volleyball Association tournament that took place the same day. Bud Light and beach volleyball go together like sand and waves.
On this day, we went to Gallagher’s – which has an awesome blues band on Wednesday nights, I learned – Sunshine Company, which is a cool place with an open-air bar and a sun-soaked patio on the roof; South Beach Bar & Grill where I had the opportunity to try their legendary fish tacos; Mother’s, where I broke ranks of sorts from Bud Light and had a can of Rolling Rock for just 2 bucks; the cozy Tiny’s Tavern which is really not all that tiny; and wound up at the new and impressive Wonderland above the pier.
There were more than a dozen of us, including two Bud Light girls, which always bring a lot to the party. Also there was Ashlee, the morning DJ of Rock 105, and listeners from the station who called in and were invited along for the day. Rock 105 also did a promotion in each bar to sign people up to win a trip to Las Vegas.
The Bud Light team led the way, and it was a heck of a fun afternoon! As the pictures no doubt demonstrate.
So if you see those Bud Light bikes locked up outside a PB bar, or run into the crew at a bar, go in join them for a few Bud Lights.
Cheers!
