Party With the Snowboarding Pros of Superpipe, Slopestyle and Freeskier at the the Winter Dew Tour
Just Dew It?
That’s what will be happening the weekend of Dec. 15-18 when USA Olympic Gold Medalist – and hip commercial pitchman Shaun White – leads top snowboard and freeski superpipe and slopestyle competitors in Breckenridge, CO, for the Nike Open as part of the Winter Dew Tour.
White goes up against Louie Vito, looking to repeat his championship performance in the superpipe. On the slopesyle course, defending champion Torstein Horgmo hopes to hold off 2010 winner Danny Davis.
Freeskiing game-changer Simon Dumont has landed in second place since the Winter Dew Tour’s inception in superpipe and looks to break through to the podium’s highest step agaisnt Justin Dorey, Kevin Rolland and young phenom Torin Yater-Wallace. The freeski slopestyle course features the technical expertise of Bobby Brown, Alex Schlopy and Sammy Carlson.
The ladies of the sport are hardly standing on the slopes watching the guys, as they are competing themselves.
Kelly Clark rolls in after dominating women’s superpipe last season. Veterans Gretchen Bleiler and Hannah Teter and the youthful Elena Hight and Ellery Hollingsworth provide Clark’s top competition. The slopestyle course will also be lighting up with young female talent, as Spencer O’Brien and Enni Rukajarvi face a wide field of up-and-coming qualifiers.
Okay but what about the party!? Nike is hosting the first stop of its Winter Chosen Tour with a rail jam competition at the Riverwalk Center on Saturday night. Free for all to attend, it is a showdown of the top local amateurs, with a DJ spinning to the contest and Nike pros commentating.
The action leads right into the Winter Dew Tour concert series, treating snowboarders, skiers and hip-hop fans to a performance by one of rap’s most buzzed about and unique up and comers as Yelawolf and opening act The Knux take the stage. These Shady Records acts will be the perfect complement to Friday’s 50th Anniversary celebration in the town, with 100% of the ticket proceeds going to SOS Outreach.
This is some way to help Breckenridge celebrate its 50th anniversary.
