Costume Beach Volleyball Tournament A South Bay Singles Highlight
The 20th annual Smackfest was like all the other ones, and that means one thing: FUN!!!
The costume coed beach volleyball tournament, held July 20, filled up the sand south of the pier in Hermosa Beach, CA, and fulfilled people’s expectations of a great time. There were players in chicken suits, grass skirts and dressed as hippies. A DJ, right on the beach, pumped tunes all day.
It was like a Vegas pool party of sorts, although one thing was missing: Alcohol. Well, on the beach at least, certainly not in the bars on Pier Ave.
And, because the couple of thousands participants are responsible locals out for nothing more than a harmless good time, it was also a calm scene. Police officers were stationed at various parts of the beach and patrolled the rows of tents and courts Any problems, officers?
“No problems at all,” one said. He had a huge smile on his face and why not; after all was a plum assignment.
How he and the other male officers kept their eyes on what was in the coolers is anyone’s guess because I have never seen that many great-looking girls ever at Smackfest. And that’s saying a lot!
Cheers!
