Boat Drinks To Build In Your Own Tropical Oasis Bar
It would be easy enough to go to your local establishment and order a rum drink, Or better, yet, to a tiki bar (if you look hard enough, you may find one in your town).
Or you can invite a few friends over and celebrate at home.
Making rum drinks may seem complicated – especially if you look at the descriptions on the thick menus at tiki bars – but it’s really quite simple. PubClub.com can tell you how to do it using just two ingredients.
And those two ingredients are:
• Rum
• Orange Juice
Yep that’s it. Rum is best mixed with juice with orange juice the primary mixer. Choosing the right rum, however, is the key to making this a good drink.
Use Dark Caribbean Rum For The Best Rum Drinks
Most grocery and liquor stores on carry the basic rums and those don’t work for a really good rum drink. Go for the Cruzan dark rum (USVI), available in a half-gallon at BevMo for around $20.
Trader Joe’s has a “Rum Of The Gods” from Barbados for $6.99.
Forget the basic Bacardi, tho if you find Bacardi 8-year-old, grab it!
How To Enhance Your Home-Made Rum Drink
You’ll be thrilled with your homemade rum drink but you can enhance it by adding a splash of another juice – guava or ideally the Passion Fruit sold at Trader Joe’s. Pineapple juice can work, too, but use only small amount because it can make the drink taste too sweet.
Finally, take some black rum – such as Myers – and pour it on top as a floater.
You can add a wedge of an orange or a pineapple and put in a colored straw if you like to increase its visual appeal. And yes, a little umbrella, too.
This will be all you need to have a fantastic home-made rum drink, one that will have you partying like a pirate.
