The beers he drinks will now be those of his own creation as he is launching EIGHT beer. He worked with brewmaster Phil Leinhart (Paulaner Brauerij, Anheuser-Busch, and Ommegang brewing) to create a brew with no sugar. That’s great for weight-conscious beer lovers as well as beer lovers with diabetes.
Made from organic grains and”antioxidant-rich” Hallertau Taurus hops, it is being promoted as a beer for the modern beer drinker. Or perhaps those of Aikman’s age range (he’s 55) who want to continue to enjoy beers without developing the drink’s notorious side effect: the beer belly.
“There’s over 8,000 breweries across America and the space that we’ve entered is as competitive as any of them,” he told Yahoo Finance.
“I’ve always been a beer drinker. I love beer.
“And when I looked at the category, I just felt that it could be better. I thought that what’s available has been on the market for a long time. I think it was time for a newcomer and quite simply, I felt that we could do it better and I think that we have. So that was really the motivation behind getting behind this project.
“There’s a lot of people like me that are very conscious of what they’re putting into their bodies. They work hard during the week, and when it comes time to celebrate, don’t want to compromise all the hard work that they put in throughout the week.”
Initially, the beer will only be available in Texas. Aikman, of course, won three Super Bowls as quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys and was inducted into the pro football Hall of Fame in 2006. The UCLA alumn is also in the college football Hall of Fame.
