Ron Barcelo Tropical Breakfast Cocktail Is Called The Desayuno Tropical

Champagne and mimosas are the de facto alcoholic beverages when one is doing a little morning drinking, so much so that there is a term for pairing them with a big meal: the champagne brunch.
But don’t you sometimes get tired of champagne or mimosas? Don’t you long for something else, while still wanting to enjoy the occasional thrill of getting a buzz with your breakfast on a Sunday (or Saturday) Funday?
Beer just doesn’t seem an appropriate replacement.
Now, just like a fresh tropical breeze blowing across a lanai on a warm and sunny morning, there is relief.
Dominican rum distiller Ron Barcelo has come up with a cocktail for breakfast and named it, appropriately enough, the Desayuno Tropical. That’s Spanish for “tropical breakfast,” and it contains Ron Barceló Gran Añejo, green tea and earl grey tea-infused simple syrup, egg whites and lemon juice.
Here is the recipe. PubClub.com suggests putting on some TropRock music – and you can do by clicking the Radio Trop Rock “play” button on the right column of this post, with lots of steel drums.

Desayuno Tropica Recipe
• 2 oz Ron Barceló Gran Añejo
• .75 oz green tea and earl grey tea infused simple syrup
• 1 egg white
• 1 oz lemon juice
• Sage as garnish
Add all ingredients in shaker. Shake vigorously until egg foams. Pour over ice and garnish with a sage sprig.
Cheers!
