Enough of the cold, the rains and the June Gloom we have had here in Southern California. Summer is here and in the world of PubClub.com it’s party time in the summertime.
Put the jeans on the rack, hang the long-sleeve shirts and toss the shoes into the closest. In their place pull out the shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops. Just don’t step on a pop top.
Summertime means pool parties and beach parties. For those who live inland from the ocean it’s weekends at – and in – the lake. Summertime means vacations, trips to the Greek Islands, beach party events and festivals. I often see questions on social media asking “do you prefer winter or summer,” and I always find the quiet, stoic people say “winter.” Us fun-in-the-sun folks should “summer!”
I prefer seeing girls in bikinis rather than parkas, sporting suntans instead of pale skin. I like being outside rather than locked inside with sliding glass doors tightly closed.
To me, summertime is like spreading the arms out to the world saying “let’s party!” It’s shedding the mental winter coat, tossing worries overboard in favor of full speed ahead. I prefer to have my sunsets at night, not before Happy Hour even starts as happens in the winter.
So what’s on your 2023 summertime agenda? Mine is simple; I’ll hang out along the coast here in Southern California, perhaps head to Hermosa Beach for the wild Smackfest 2023 beach party, get to know Pacific Beach and Mission Beach a bit better (and bring that information to you here on PubClub.com), ride the rails of Amtrak and the Coaster along the San Diego coastline stopping at the North County beach towns for more PubClub “research” and in general stay at and on the beach.
It’s summertime. The prime party time of the year.
