1. Cover Yourself with Layers
Winter is the perfect time to run to the closet and grab all your layers. Wear long sweaters with jackets and caps for outdoor use and wear a comfortable wicking polyester undershirt indoors. Keep the hat on to stay cozy.
You can also wear a comfortable fleece neck warmer to prevent the chilly breeze from freezing your body
Do not forget to cover your feet as well. When you are at home, wear house slippers with rubber soles and warm socks. As for the outdoors, wear hiking shoes or boots with foam liners to stay warm.
2. Bake Warm Treats
Some hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies can warm you up during cold days. To heat things up a notch, you can try making some boozy hot chocolates. Our personal favorite would be the boozy peanut butter hot cocoa.
An adequate amount of your favorite alcohol mixed with warm chocolates and peanut butter, What’s not to love!
3. Heat Up the Bed
You can keep your heater on for hours, but that will increase your electricity bills by a large margin. A more cost-effective way would be to use an electric blanket. You can turn it on for a while to heat the bed.
An even cheaper alternative would be this small DIY trick. Here is what you have to do, grab a bottle and fill it with warm water from the faucet. Put the bottle in a woolen cover and put it near the foot of the bed under the sheets. Your bed should become nice and toasty after a while. You can do the same with a hot water bag or a large heating pad.
4. Keep Your Kitchen Running
Try not to keep no-bake meals around the house during the winter. Instead,
keep your kitchen humming. Bake delicious desserts, cookies and leave the stove or oven open once you are done.
Make soup and enjoy the warmth of the simmering pots and stoves. A cup of warm tea is also great for keeping you cozy throughout the day.
These small actions allow you to stay active and using your ovens and stoves will keep the place warm. But if you have children, make sure they can not reach the doors of your stove or oven.
5. Humidify Your House
A humidifier will not increase the overall temperature but will make your house feel warmer. The water vapor used by the humidifier can trap more heat in the air.
Just running a heater will strip the humidity from your indoor air. A humidifier can balance that out and keep your place warm. You also have to keep yourself hydrated and keep your skin moisturized all the time.
