Transforming From Beach Bum To A Stylish PubClubber
I’m about to get a new wardrobe.
Not an complete one, mind you, but enough to potentially make a big difference in my dress code.
James Hills of MenWhoBlog.com is hooking PubClub.com up with Carhartt, an on-line wardrobe company that has shirts, shorts, pants, shoes and other cool stuff. He showed me the company’s website and basically said “have at it. We need to get us outfitted for an upcoming episode of our show.”
James and I co-host the #MenWhoBlog Virtually Happy Hour show every Tuesday and Thursday (the link is: facebook.com/pubclubbber).
But when I looked at the many offerings from this outdoor outfitter, I was as lost as one of my golf balls on a course. Except here, there’s no foot wedge.
You see, I have no eye for fashion. I am as helpless as a running back with no blockers looking for space.
My problem, if you can call it that, is that I am a beach bum. I like t-shirts with funny bar slogans on them, shorts and flip flops. My idea of high fashion is putting on a pair of jeans and shoes.
So what am I to do with what Carhartt has to offer? I don’t its Rugged Flex Rigby Dungaree from its Washed Twill Relaxed Fit Work Pants any more than I do mezcal from tequila.
Do you know the first thing I said to James was when he showed me the website? I can tell you that it had nothing to do with anything you wear. I wanted to know if they have a backpack cooler. Now there is something I could put to good use!
So before even THINKING about ordering anything, I requested that James run this through PubClubette Ashley. Not only does she have an eye for fashion, she’s from Texas. And if you know anything about women from Texas, they know style as well as they know who should be the Cowboys starting quarterback.
They don’t dare step out of the house until they look like as if they are headed to a wedding. Or a Cowboys game. And they don’t want any man who is standing next them to be anything less than perfect.
And so this is what is going to happen: PubClubette Ashley will be doing my Carhartt shopping for me. I will wear whatever she chooses.
And I know that with that direction, I will look like a stylist dude and not a beach bum.
