Distribution Giant Reportedly Is Looking Into Selling Branded Televisions

Reportedly in the works for two years, this could happen as early as October. Tho the worldwide chip shortage could delay it. Imagine it conveniently coming out around, oh, say, Black Friday.
This is according to Business Insider, which published an article stating that the distribution company is preparing to launch its own branded TV. It will be somewhere in between 55 to 75 inches – whoa, that will fill up a wall! – and have Alexa built into it. It will supposedly be designed and manufactured by TCL.
From there it’s all speculation and rumors. Will it have Fire TV software? What will be the price point?
And, one good question: will it be any good?
Amazon already sells TVs India, which cost approximately $410 for the 50-inch model and $500 for the 55-inch model.
It would also be interesting to see the product description. And the early reviews of it. What about customer support?
Regardless, it’s interesting to ponder. And where will this lead to in the future? Will be be seeing more Amazon electronics? Amazon smartphones anyone? It already has attempted (without much success) to sell a microwave oven and speakers.
Amazon has changed the way we go shopping and it could soon have an impact on us watching TV. But, as is the case in everything, it’s up to the consumers to decide whether or not they want an Amazon-branded television.
