I received a press release the other day titled “How People Are Getting Happy And Staying Happy.”
It was about a woman named Katie Wee who has been on TV shows Modern Family, New Girl, and Hawaii 5-0 and how she uses yoga to take the stress away from her life. You can learn her techniques Feb. 28-March 6 at Palmaia – the House of Aia, in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. For more information on the retreat – click here.
But beyond Katie and her yoga, I started thinking about finding happiness. It’s never been much of a problem for me and I would like to share my tips for finding happiness with you.
• Think Positive And You Will Be Positive
This is the first step to happiness. If you think positive and be positive then your outlook on life will always be, well, positive. The National Science Foundation says we think 60,000-80,000 thoughts per day; 80% are negative while 95% are repetitive. So think postive instead of negative.
Hey, not everything goes great all the time; I know that because it happens to me. But for the vast majority of the time I have found that if you look on the positive side of things it will far outweigh the negative aspects of life. I also refer to this as having “postitive waves.” That’s probaby because I get a lot of my postivie energy by being by the ocean.
• Hang Out With Postive People
Far too many people dwell on the negative, who look at what’s wrong rather than what’s right, and they will drag you down like an anchor. Instead of letting this happen, spend your time with positive-thinking people.
• Do The Things You Like In Your Free Time
For me, it’s going to the beach, listening to happy music – Jimmy Buffett is a favorite – riding a bike, going for runs and being around fun people. Wee haa a good point; for her it’s yoga. If you struggle in this area, ake a list of things you like to do in your free time and start doing them.
• Smile Instead Of Frown
Sounds simple, right? Try it sometime. You may be surprised at how it changes your outlook on things.
• Your Glass Is Always Hall Full, Not Half Empty
It’s an old saying but it’s true. It means that some people always look at the bright side of things rather than the dark side.
Conclusion
Finding happiess is really easy. But to get there, you first must really want it and then follow the simple steps in this article.
