The World Cup is the world’s biggest multi-day sporting event. It is also the biggest multi-day drinking event. Just as the lovable Scottish fans who drank Boston dry of beer.

There’s nothing wrong with plenty of drinking, of course. As long as you follow the this PubClubber’s Guide to Drinking Through The World Cup with some hangover prevention tips tossed in for those who don’t follow this article closely nough.

1.) It’s Not A Sprint, It’s A Marathon. Don’t feel the need to get buzzed immediately. Pace yourself. Personally, I can kind of feel myself getting buzzed through my toes first and that’s when I slow down a bit, especially if it’s early in the day or night. Treat your drink as a side dish to the main entree, the potato salad to the cheeseburger. The main focus is where you are partying and with whom you are partying. The alcohol is just the party prop.

2.) Know Your Drinking Limit. Some people can drink what seems like half a keg without getting drunk while others get hammered off a few beers. You know what your limit is so stick ot it.

2.) Watch The Shots. Don’t wake up and do shots. In fact, don’t do shots at all until late in the afternoon. This is not only because shots are strong and hit you quickly but because shot are like eating potato chips: You can’t stop at just one. This is especially true if you are at a bar; it’s easy to get carried away which will, of course, mean you may literally be carried away from the bar after you either stagger out of it.

3.) Hydrate With Water On Occasions. Okay, I admit this easier said than done – I’ven been right there myself many times – but it’s really a good way to keep partying for the length of the pre-game, game and post-game celebrations.

4.) Act Like You’ve Been There Before. In other words, don’t be an idiot. Don’t pick fights, don’t try and be the alcoholic hero by showing everyone how macho you are by downing the most drinks Have fun, be the life of the party if that’s your style, but do so with a few responsible brain cells still functioning.

6.) Celebrate The Atmosphere, The Reason There’s A Party In The First Place. Don’t lose sight of the fact it’s the about the spirit of the game and remember the PubClub.com cheer is “Win or Lose, We Booze!”

7.) Laugh, Smile And Party! Enjoy the moment. Heck, it’s a great, fun celebration and enjoy it to the max. Just don’t be an idiot. Be fun!

8.) A Few Hangover Prevention & Cure Tips. Eat early in the party experience. Once you get a buzz, food won’t get rid of it. That’s and drinking water on occasion are two good hangover prevention tips. If you’ve gone past that point and the next morning you feel you could donate your body to science, eat a couple of bananas. I always have at least two handy if I know I’m going to be tying one on the previous night. The Potassium in bananas is an importantmineral and vital electrolyte.  Speaking of electrolytes, drink beverages with a lot of it. Avoid coffee; that doesn’t work. Have a big breafast with lots of potatoes to soak up the booze.

Or, go to a bar, have a Bloody Mary and get the next-day quick “shampoo effect” buzz.

Cheers!
