Hooking Up Has Never Been Easier But Nightlife Still Has Its Place In This New Culture

As a single guy, I am always looking for new ways and places to meet girls.
Great places, I have discovered after considerable research, is wine tasting rooms and wine festivals in particular. They are full of girls and after a couple of hours they shed their somewhat pretentious attitudes and reveal their true selves. Which is, mostly, that of a party attitude.
One of my favorite quotes on the singles life is from an Oakland Raider during the team’s hell-raising heyday. A reporter asked the wild-looking John Matuszak why he goes to bars all the time.
“Because,” he snorted, “that where the girls are; if they were in the library you would be asking me why I go to the library all the time.”
I wonder what he would say now, tho. Would he say he’s on dating apps or dating sites all the time?
Dating apps and sites are taking over the singles lifestyle world. According to Pew Research, 27% of Americans between the ages of 18 and 24 have used a dating app. Heck, even 12% of 55 to 65-year-old have used at least one. And that is somewhat dated data because the information was collected well before the COVID shutdown.
So what does this mean for the scene in the singles bars?
After all, if all you have to do is swipe a bunch of photos to get laid, why go through the effort to hope you see someone you like in a bar, work to get to meet them and then go through the often difficult and sometimes time-consuming process of trying to hook up with them? And there’s certainly no guarantee of a payoff at the end.
Well I don’t know about you, but personally I like the thrill of the chase. And when I get someone into bed, there’s great mental satisfaction in addition to the physical rewards. I have achieved something and to me that’s way better than just swiping my way to a lustful evening.
Thus, I like singles bars. And so do, too, a lot of other singles. The singles bar scene is still lively and vibrant. So, too, are other party events that single people go to such as concerts and music festivals.
Part of the joy of being single is being able to go out and socialize. Singles bars are fun. There’s music, dancing and a party atmosphere.
Dating apps are like ordering products on Amazon – if you don’t like what you can get, you simply return it. If it turns out you don’t like your “swipe,” you simply move on and swipe again.
Dating apps do make hooking up a more direct process. You both know what you’re there for and the only thing you need to settle is your place or mine. It’s the dating version of cutting out the middle man.
But while this may affect some, the singles bar scene is still a huge part of the human lifestyle and it will remain that way no matter how many hook-up dating apps are available to people.
