1.) Greek Islands
One of the most popular tourist destinations in the world in the summertime is also one of the safest places to visit. It is #1 because of the volume of visitors it receives makes it stand out among the other places on this list. The biggest danger in the Greek Islands is not from crime, but from crashing a moped. So be careful on if you’re going to ride one of those things.
2.) Waikiki Beach
It’s amazing that in an area with so many tourists, there is virtually no crime in Waikiki. Not that I’ve ever noticed, anyway, and I’ve been there dozens of times. Not even pickpockets. You can leave your belongings on the beach without a worry while you go for a swim with the confidence it will be there when you return to your beach towel. The streets are safe at night, even after you’ve had several drinks at Dukes and in Waikiki Beach’s best bars.
3.) Sydney, Australia
Sydney is one of the safest cities in the world. It’s also one of the cleanest. Sure, it’s not the summertime Down Under but the weather is sunny and nice with daily highs in the mid-60s to low-70s.
4.) Switzerland
This entire country is so free of crime of any kind that you can feel confident in his cities, villages and mountains as well as on its trains and trams. The country is so clean, too, that you can swim in its rivers and lakes in its cities.
5.) Iceland
Iceland consistently has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, and that includes violent and petty crime. The fact of the matter is, you will endanger yourself more than anyone else will while you are in this country. It’s also safe from a wildlife standpoint – there’s simply no animals like bears that will harm you.
6.) Stockholm
Crime of any kind is virtually non-existent in this Swedish city. In fact, anywhere you travel in Sweden is extremely safe, daytime and nighttime.
7.) Berlin
The least expensive big city in Europe, Berlin is very safe. Like many places, un-alert tourist can be victimized by pickpockets; two main places in Berlin to watch them are on the U-Bahn and at the Bahnhof Zoo.

This is another city I’ve been to several times and can declare it perfectly safe. I’ve walked its downtown streets in the daytime and late at night without a single worry of crime. I’ve also seen women walking alone without worrying about being a crime victim. The Economist ranked Toronto as the fourth safest major city in the world, and the safest major city in North America.
9.) San Diego, CA
From the beaches to the bays to the Gaslamp Quarter – where most tourists go out to eat and drink, we well where many locals go to party on the weekend – San Diego is as safe as it is sunny. You can walk around without worry in the main areas, making it one of the safest big cities in America.
10.) Hermosa/Manhattan Beach, CA
I am concluding this post with the area where I lived for many years, the Los Angeles South Bay Beach Cities of Hermosa and Manhattan. Crime here is so rare that if anything tiny ever happens, the police swarm over it because they have nothing else to do, so you’re completely protected here. Plus, the area is gorgeous.
Safe European Cities, But Watch Out For Pickpockets
While safe from a hard crime standpoint, be sure and keep you hand on your wallet or watch your purse, for these cities are notorious for scams and pickpockets: Barcelona, Madrid, Naples, Paris, Prague and Rome.
