Saints Fans Will Recover In Time To Party

Sure, New Orleans. Losing the chance to play in Super Bowl VIII on a blown non call by an official stinks.
I know how much you love your Saints. Heck, I was in the Superdome to start the season to experience it for myself.
But a reason to celebrate is just around the corner. The Mardi Gras parades start Feb. 22, leading up to Fat Tuesday on March 5.
I also know New Orleans and the Louisiana people. You can bounce back from heartbreak to party as if life is one big trampoline. You can go from despair to delirium in less time than it takes to get a Hand Grenade from the Tropical Isle.
The non-call, of course, will go down in Saints and NFL Playoffs history as one of the worst referee botches of all time. As bad as the Tom Brady fumble against the Oakland Raiders that created the “tuck rule,” the Music City Miracle and, depending on one’s point of view, the Immaculate Reception.
There’s even the “did he or did he not” touch it overturn of a fumbled punt in the day’s other game involving New England Patriots’ Julian Edelman that would have given the Kansas City Chiefs the football deep in Pats’ territory.
Think of it this way Saints fans: You could be a Chiefs fan and stuck in Kansas City. You’re in New Orleans. With Mardi Gras coming up in a few weeks.
So “laissez les bon temps rouler!”
Cheers.
