Boat Parades, Pub Crawls & Manhattan Beach Fireworks

It’s party time in Los Angeles
Holiday style.
A city as big and diverse as Los Angeles so, too, are its holiday events. And there is no bigger time for it than the second weekend of December. There are so many fun party happenings it’s impossible to get to all of them, so you have to pick and choose.
For example:
• On Friday, it’s the 12 Bars of Christmas pub crawl in Hermosa Beach. And if that’s not enough, the Santa Pub Crawl in Santa Monica is on Saturday.
• On Saturday, there are several boat parades, the biggest one being in Marina del Rey. The next week, by the way, is the biggest boat parade in the world, so big it takes place over five nights, the Newport Beach Boat Parade.
• On Sunday it’s a unique event – a fireworks show. This takes place in Manhattan Beach and is spectacular. It involves a Fourth of July-style fireworks show, accompanies by holiday music. The event also has a band on a stage and at least 10,000 people, who watch from the beach, The Strand, house parties all along the beachfront homes and in beach chairs placed on Manhattan Beach Blvd. This is an event not to be missed.
Los Angeles may not have snow, shopping with decorated windows and ice skating by a huge tree in a place like Rockefeller Plaza as in New York City, Christmas markets as in Europe or some of the other elements that identify the holidays in other cities and parts of the world, but it does have one thing: a great party events scene.
You can’t get to them all, but just one or two will put you in the holiday spirit – LA style.
Happy Holidays!
