A Brilliant, Gorgeous Sunset Settles Over Southern California

I spent much of the day driving around Los Angeles in a steady rain which occasionally turned into a downpour.
It was a rare ugly day, the kind were you just want to get your tasks over with so you can be back home where it’s dry.
But this is Los Angeles, and even when it rains, nature brightens up the day. Once the clouds began to disappear and the sky began to clear, a gorgeous scene began to unfold, like a painter bringing a blank canvas to life.
We were having a sunset. And not just any sunset, but a spectacular one with a super-bright sun surrounded by a colorful sky.
I was along the coast, in Hermosa Beach, and the scene over the beach and Pacific Ocean was spectacular.
It was so stunning, I just stopped and watched. I forgot about anything else happening in my world and enjoyed the moment. It was so great, I kept motionless after the sun disappeared over the ocean. The sky was a dark yellow and he ocean a perfect color of blue.
There were no waves and the ocean seemed as still as a lake, as if it, too, could not move during this long-lasting moment.
This, by the way, is a pretty typical post-rain scene in L.A. Only on the rarest of days does it rain the sunset time of the day, as if nature simply won’t allow us to miss a sunset.
The rain also clears out the smog and haze of Los Angeles, making for a clean sky, adding more brillance to a spectacular scene.
So if you’re visiting Los Angles when it’s raining, don’t fret and don’t say “I thought the sun shines here all the time!” Just wait a while and as the afternoon is ending, turn toward the west, for you may be rewarded with one of these sensational sunsets.
Cheers!
