Tube Shot Girls, Big Ass Beers, Big-Time Happy Hours & Colored Drinks With Colorful Names
Yes, there is Frenchman Street and Mid-City.
But if you really want to experience nightlife in New Orleans, you need to be on Bourbon Street.
Simply put, there is nothing else like it in America. It is the home of 3-for-1 Happy Hours that go as late as 10 p.m., hot girls pouring shots in plastic tubes down your throat and stands along the street selling “Big Ass Beers.”
There are drinks with names like the Hurricane and the Hand Grenade. And they come in all sorts of assorted colors, making a night on Bourbon Street a blur that you probably would not remember the next day were it not for the photos and videos on your phone.
Bourbon Street may be the only place in the world where you do not even have to go into a bar to drink and party. All you have to do is walk down the street and get drinks at booths tucked into little nooks and crannies along the street.
Of course, you can’t help but go into the bars, too. There’s live music everywhere, mostly bands playing rock covers. Most of the bars are pretty small; you won’t find Vegas-type clubs here. They are mostly well-worn places and you can dress so casual it’s not unusual to see most people in shorts and sandals.
You can go into a place and leave with a drink, wander up and down Bourbon Street and go in and out of the various bars. Be sure and go upstairs to the balcony to look over the scene happening below you on Bourbon Street.
By the way, are there are no cover charges and often not even any lines to get into the bars.
Weekend nights year-round are lively and there’s always fellow partiers filling up the street.
There’s nothing like partying on Bourbon Street, the mecca of nightlife in New Orleans.
