Okay, so things aren’t going as expected this season. Apparently, even in Tuscaloosa with Nick Saban as your coach, you can’t play for or win the National Championship every year.
But Alabama football fans need to adopt the Pubclub.com cheer of “Win Or Lose, We Booze!” And that’s what many of us did Saturday night in a Bama alumni bar watching the LSU game.
We talked, we partied and we drank. The game was intense to be sure but we all knew we actually had no control over the outcome and we might as well enjoy being together for a few hours.
That is the attitude all sports fans need to take. Celebrate the wins and the championships, yes – treasure the titles, in fact – but don’t lose the sight of the fact it’s just a game. Life is too good and there is too much fun to be had by being mad at a loss.
So, this year won’t end with another semifinal playoff win and a spot in the National Championship game for Alabama football 2022. Saban is still the best coach in the game and has yet another top-ranked recruiting class coming into reload the Tide.
And while the Bama-fatigued fans of other schools and media will try to proclaim that Saban is slipping or the dynasty is over, keep this in mind: Alabama has lost two games by a total of four points. Clemson, on the other hand, was smacked by three touchdowns to a team that earlier in the season lost to Marshall. And we are not Texas A&M, stuck with a coach who has an $89 million buyout.
Both of Bama losses have been on the road in hostile SEC environments to teams, Tennessee and LSU, that rarely beat the Tide. In fact, that was UT’s first win in 15 years. At UT, Alabama missed what would have been a game-winning field goal in the final minute. At LSU, a player got a toe into the end zone on a two-point conversion in overtime.
The team is two plays away from being undefeated and a likely #1 ranking.
So hey, don’t get mad. Just remember this – and Clemson and UT fans should do the same (and let’s see, Dodgers fans, Colts fans, Team USA World Cup fans) – live by the PubClub cheer when watching your team.
