There is more to LSU gymnast, Instagram and TikTok mega star and now Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Olivia Dunne than good looks and a hot body.
Inside that pretty head of hers is a business-savvy mind. And she doesn’t mind sharing her knowledge when it comes to college sports’ Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) world. In an interview with The Street, she offers sound advice to other college athletes looking to cash in on the riches of NIL. With some $3.4 million in NIL money and deals with SI Swimsuit, Leaf Trading Cards and Vuori, among others, Dunne certainly know what she’s talking about, too.
Spend it like a college kid, she said. While that doesn’t necessarily mean ordering a basic cheese pizza because you can’t afford any toppings – been there, done that! – Dunne does advise to be wise with that newfound money.
“For other athletes, especially, that are in college, I would say spend your money like a college student, put all that money away, invest it, and just spend it like a normal college kid,” she told The Street. “I would say first and foremost, find a really good agent. That was the first thing I did. And just take your time. Don’t rush into anything.
“Don’t be in a rush to make a lot of money. Take your time because it’ll come. NIL is such an unprecedented area. At first, when it changed, nobody knew really what was going on. I didn’t. LSU didn’t, and other universities didn’t, and the brands didn’t know either.
“So, to just take your time and the money will be there.”
