Cornice Bowl Accessibile On First Weekend
After a Pacific storm dumped three feet of snow, California’s biggest and most popular ski resort opened on Thursday, Nov. 5.
Snowboarders “crashed” through a banner on the Broadway lift to officially open the 2015-16 season in what officials hope is a banner year at the mountain.
The snow promoted Mammoth executives to open six days ahead of the original opening date. It celebrated by offering $50 lift tickets all weekend. Opening day also had a beer toast and live music.
Three lifts were open: Broadway Express, Facelift Express and Discovery Chair. This provided access to the Saddle Bowl, Broadway, Andy’s Double Gold and Sesame Street runs.
So much snow blanket the mountain from top to bottom that the Gondola to the top is open for the weekend, which provides access to the expert run the Cornice Bowl.
Temperatures are cold, warming up on the weekend. A high of 41 is predicted for Saturday and 36 on Sunday. Both days are bright and sunny.
