Pasadena City Hall The Secret Location For All-White Pop-Up Dinner Party
The mystery location was revealed on a warm Saturday afternoon, and by 5:30, people began arriving at Pasadena City Hall.
They carried their tables and chairs, set up their decorates and settled down for the classy all-white pop-up dinner party known as Le Diner en Blanc.
There were some 2,000 people at the Los Angeles version of this wildly popular event on Oct. 14 that happens in something like 100 of the “coolest” cities in the world. People sign up months in advance and are approved through a three-step process and the location is not revealed until two hours before the event.
For 2017, Los Angeles organizers chose Pasadena City Hall and this classic, gorgeous European-style building turned out to the the perfect location for Le Diner en Blanc.
The settings were placed in a courtyard and when seated, enjoyed thoroughly people their dinner under the stars. A classical band was playing soft music and the majestic city hall building glowed in the lights. While Le Diner en Blanc is a French creation – it started in Paris under the Eiffel Tower – this setting felt like you might expect in Vienna.
And it could not have been more perfect. As well as appropriate.
Afterward, as the band picked up the musical pace, everyone danced as if at either a masquerade ball or a very fun wedding reception.
People had bring their own everything (although you can order dinner on-line beforehand for those who don’t want to bring their own, and wine and champagne is also pre-ordered).
The next Le Diner en Blanc – Los Angeles will be next October. It’s somewhat of a process to get on the list to be invited but, as the 2017 event clearly demonstrated, is well worth any effort it takes to be at it.
