Live Bands, Craft Cocktails & Beers, Surfest & Top 10 Bars In Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach & Redondo Beach

Welcome to the PubClub.com South Bay Party Report!
If you’re not in New Orleans for the first week of JazzFest or at Coachella, don’t feel bad. We’ve got great live music in the South Bay this weekend along with a cocktails festival at Bay Club and wait until you read the comments from long-time South Bay’ers about our 10 best all-time bars!
So grab your drinks, put on some music and let’s rock it!
BERRY BLY COCKTAILS & BEER FESTIVAL
Not to be confused with the Beach Cities Wine & Beer Festival – which sold out, by the way, in less than three days! – the Oceanfront Craft Festival & Concert Series is an event also taking place this Saturday at Bay Club in Redondo Beach.
A difference here is that this one – put on by Berry Bly – has the high-energy Graceband, the awesome, fun full-on Elvis show entertainers. It goes from 2-6 and among the libations are vodka, bourbon and craft beers. Tickets are $25 and includes at least three drink tickets from participating pourers. What does “at least three drink tickets” mean? Well, it means you’ll get three drinks and maybe more, depending on the mood of those doing the pouring. You can get tix at the door or in advance at:

LIVE MUSIC AT SOUTH BAY BARS
Dirty Harry, a tribute to Blondie, is at Standing Room on Thursday (9 p.m.), and Barley is there Saturday night (9 p.m.). Never a cover at Standing Room!…The Spazmatics are at Saint Rocke on Saturday ($15); whew, what a full Saturday of fun and great live bands! But there’s more so keep reading.
SURFEST
Don’t get too excited – this has nothing to do with a certain volleyball tournament known as 6-man; it’s the name of a Spyder surf shop event – this Surfest is Saturday on Hermosa’s Pier Plaza. It’s like a sidewalk sale/mini-festival, the highlight of which is Jeremy Buck playing from 4:45-5:30. This version of Surfest is free and goes from noon-6 p.m.

ROAD TRIP: THE MULLET TOSS
This is one reason the beaches in the South are so cool, events like this one. And you can drink on the beach! This takes place on the Alabama-Florida border hosted by the famous FloraBama bar. I wish I was there for it!

EARTHY DAY AND EARTH DAY
Today, Wednesday, is known as 420, when potheads from around the world celebrate cannabis culture. There’s no official event or gathering, but if you see a bunch of people sitting around the beach in a drum circle or looking as if they are on their way to a folk single’s convention, you’ll know the reason. And Friday is National Earth Day. So pick up some trash when you see it on the street, sidewalk or on the beach.
