A Margaritaville Match Made In Heaven Could Lead To A ‘Live By The San Diego Bay’ Show

It’s a match made in Margaritaville heaven, a new hotel and a new outdoor concert venue on the water that conjures up thoughts of the epic “Live By The Bay” show.
A Margaritaville Hotel is opening in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, and that is just a short walk to the new The Shell amphitheater on the Embarcadero. So, in order to promote the hotel, as well as another location due to open in Mission Bay – will Buffett play The Shell when each opens sometime in 2011?
The Beach Boys are playing there this summer and, well if the Boys are there then surely Buffett can be, as well.
The waterfront location could be the modern version of Buffett’s epic “Live By The Bay” of the 80s, which was conducted and filmed for a video at the now-closed Miami Marine Stadium. In the video, people are in boats and dinghies, jumping into and splashing in the water.

The same could happen here. A title for the DVD – which would be sold to tens of thousands of Parrotheads all over the country – could be called “Live By The San Diego Bay.”
At the very least, Buffett is likely to play “surprise” shows (meaning people in the know will know about it in advance) at both locations. But a show at The Shell would be epic.
