The Waikiki Aquarium, located at the end of Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, is celebrating its 115th anniversary in March with a party.
Now how many of you even knew that there is a Waikiki Aquarium? I do, and I’ve been to it. You won’t exactly confuse it with, say, the massive Monterey Bay Aquarium in California, but that one has not been around for more than a century, either.
The event is Sunday, March 24, from 6-9 p.m. Perfect, right about the time it starts to wind down at Duke’s On Sunday.
“After 115 years of inspiring and promoting understanding, appreciation and conservation of Pacific marine life, we’re excited to celebrate this momentous anniversary with our friends and community supporters,” said Dr. Andrew Rossiter, director of the Waikīkī Aquarium.
Hosted by Flash of Star 101.9, the Waikīkī Aquarium’s A Sustainable Celebration will feature delectable bites by Butcher & Bird, DECK., Duke’s Waikiki, Herringbone Waikiki, Leeward Drive Inn, La Gelateria, Tanioka’s Seafoods and Catering, Tiki’s Bar & Grill, Town, Alohilani Resort and more.
Cocktails will be hosted by Ocean Vodka, Kona Brewing Co., Johnson Brothers of Hawaii, MillerCoors, Heineken, Peroni, and Paradise Beverages. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy live entertainment by Alex Kawakami, Josh Tatofi, Paula Fuga and Star Kalahiki.
A Sustainable Celebration is presented by Honolulu Fish Company, iHeartMedia, Lyft and Moderne Media. Admission to the event is $100 per ticket with VIP Tables starting at $2,500. Tickets are available for purchase at https://wa115.eventbrite.com. For more information, call (808) 923-9741 or visit www.waikikiaquarium.org.
