THURSDAY – KAMI’S HOLIDAY HOUSE PARTY
Those of you who know of this party know the drill and location. It’s Thursday night! She does have booze and light food but I feel it’s always good to take your own. One good reason to always take your own to house and private parties is that you get to drink what you like – like Kona beers!
Thursday is also the Holiday Wine Tasting Soiree at Uncorked Hermosa on Upper Pier Ave. It goes from 6-9:30 p.m.
THURSDAY– JIM MORRISON’S BIRTHDAY PARTY WITH A DOORS COVER BAND
Thursday is Jim Morrison’s birthdate – he would have been 73 this year – and Venice Beach Bar LIVE in Venice is celebrating by having an “All Day, All Doors” event featuring a top Doors cover band, Peace Frog. Doors open at 4:20, Peace Frog plays at 8 and there’s no cover.
FRIDAY – HERMOSA BEACH 12 BARS OF CHRISTMAS & GLOW YOGA
Bring a toy for charity, which will be collected the at the first two bars. The place and time is Mickey McColgans at 6. You know the drill – get their, get your lanyard for drink specials and dress in holiday attire. The pub crawl goes to bars on and around Pier Plaza. Here’s the complete list of the bars and details:
If you want to mix in a little yoga with your holiday partying, then Beach Cities Yoga is having a Winter Wonderland Glow Flow. It’s glow-in-the-dark yoga with a DJ. Wear your whitest and brightest (neon) attire. Snacks & wine included. $30 for non-members $15 for Beach Cities Yoga members

SATURDAY – MARINA DEL REY & KING HARBOR BOAT PARADES
The King Harbor Boat Parade is Saturday. Hosted by King Harbor Yacht Club, it’s about 30 boats going back and forth along the channel. It goes from 5:30=9:30 and here’s a link to PubClub.com’s recommended viewing locations. And fun bars to go to before, during and after the parade!
If you’re feeling adventurous – and this is something PubClub.com is considering: the Marina del Rey boat parade is the same nite. Take the Kona beer beach cruiser up to MDR – it starts at 5:55 with a brief fireworks show – then pedal back to catch the end of the King Harbor parade. It’s about an hour ride, all along the beach, of course!
Also Saturday is the 8th Annual Red and White Gala at American Junkie. This is Toy Drive for Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Bring unwrapped toys or gift cards. This will serve as your cover. Starts at 8.
SUNDAY – THE SPECTACULAR MANHATTAN BEACH FIREWORKS
All these previous events – as fun as they are, of course – provide the perfect buildup to the biggest event of this season, the Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks. The show, set to music, is simply spectacular.
Tens of thousands of people are sitting on beach chairs and blankets on Manhattan Beach Blvd., every house on The Strand has a house party, people are lined up on The Strand and are on the beach and you have to squeeze into the bars like Shellback Tavern at just the right time, or wait in a big line. It is THE highlight holiday event in the Beach Cities.
Joe’s Band plays at 6 with the fireworks starting at 7. Here’s the full schedule.
If you’re looking for something sort-of festive to get you in the mood earlier in the day, the Holiday Concert and Santa on the Pier is in Redondo Beach from 2-4. It must be noted this is not a wild party event, but if you want to pre-party for the fireworks with a stop in a bar or two (or take a concealed cocktail but be discreet of course) with some holiday music it can be worth your time.
LOS ANGELES EVENTS – HOLIDAY BOAT PARADES & A SANTA PUB CRAWL
The 8th Annual SANTA Monica Pub Crawl in Santa Monica is Sat., Dec. 10. It starts at 5 goes until 1 a.m. It’s is so huge, there are actually four pub crawls; sign up and choose your route from bars at the pier, along Main Street, Wilshire Blvd., and the Third Street Promenade. Both are a good warmup to the biggest holiday boat parade the following week in Newport Beach. That is a multi-day event that officials say 1 million people attend. Its dates are Dec. 14-18.
