Top Activities & Events In Hermosa, Manhattan & Redondo Beach

So let’s jump right in and get ready to party!
Top Southern California Events This Weekend
• Dodger Stadium Concert
The huge concert featuring The Eagles; Fleetwood Mac; Steely Dan; Journey; Earth, Wind & Fire and the Doobie Brothers is Saturday and Sunday at Dodger Stadium. Starts at 3 p.m. Looking for tickets? Link: www.livenation.com
• World Series Of Beach Volleyball

The world’s top players are in Long Beach for this event that on Saturday includes the Smackfest Events 6-man party, er, players. The format is like the Olympics in which teams are playing for countries, like the good ‘ol USA. The event is free and you can buy beers and other drinks and drink on the beach. There’s also bands and DJs. The location is the end of Shoreline Drive just past Shoreline Village; parking is on the Marina Green.
• South Bay Greek Festival
It’s timely, since now is THE time to be in the Greek Islands. You can get a taste of it – quite literally – at the South Bay Greek Festival. It’s at a Greek Orthodox church on Knob Hill in Redondo Beach. In addition to the food, there’s live music and Greek dancing. It’s just $2 to get into and yes, they have drinks. But not even the Greeks drink Ouzo! This is a decent event for singles but there’s a lot of kids and families, too. Link: sbgreekfestival.com
• San Clemente Ocean Festival
Organizers boldly call this the “Greatest Show On Surf,” but they’ve apparently not seen the Manhattan Beach 6-man in its heyday, but anyway, this involves a run along the beach, paddleboarding, surfing and lifeguard competitions. From a party perspective it brings out a lot of people to the pier area, which has a restaurant and old-fashioned bar on the pier and several bars a half block inland on Del Mar Ave. The Amtrack Surfrider will drop you right at the pier, by the way. Friday: Rooftop Party In Hollywood
Feel like a pool party? Then head to the W Hotel for its rooftop pool party each Friday night throughout the summer. This has a nice mix of hip and cool Hollywood with a touch of Vegas and also a bit of a South Bay feel. Link: Splash Night Fridays Review

• Redondo Beach Pier Concert
A surf band is playing – for free – on the Redondo Pier. Yes, I know these things are lame but heck, take a “CC” (concealed cocktail) and enjoy; the band I heard last week was surprisingly good. Link: RB Concerts Are The South Bay’s Hidden Gem
Sunday FunDay In L.A.
• Polliwog Park Concerts
The Pine Mountain Logs set the tone, so to speak, with a fun party scene last week. See who’s playing this week! Link: Polliwog Park Concerts Lineup
• HYBC Celebration
It’s the birthday party of HBYC founder Leonard with a complimentary keg and hors d’oeuvres (as long as they last!) at this Hermosa Beach institution. Starts at 3:30. HBYC is located, for those of you who may not now, at 66 Hermosa Ave. Look for the blue awning. Happy Birthday Len!
• Phoenix Rising At The Slip Bar
The Brazilian Bombshell, Tatiana, is at The Slip with her band Phoenix Rising. Great local music! They will also be at Battle of the Bands on July 20 at Saint Rocke to be one of the bands at the Hermosa Beach Summer Concerts. 5:30-8:30 at The Slip.
Del Mar Opening Day 2017

Road trip! The Kentucky Derby of the West Coast is Wednesday, July 19. One year we took a party bus down to it from Hermosa but you’ll have to get there on your own. Here’s a complete guide to it with everything you need to know and ladies, don’t be shy about entering the hat contest! Link: Del Mar Opening Day Everything You Need To Know
UPCOMING EVENT: BITE AT THE BEACH
Be sure and get your tickets for the Bite At The Beach coming up Aug. 12 in Manhattan Beach. This is a craft beer and food festival featuring MB restaurants and live entertainment. Link: Bite At The Beach
