Okay, I have to admit, I was initially afraid to try it.
Iced tea with alcohol seemed to me to be as bad a match as Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston, a quesadilla on the menu of a dive burger joint.
This is because of my Southern heritage. In the South, we drink iced tea by the gallons. It’s hot and humid there and this refreshing beverage is part of the culture. It’s something I carried with me here to Southern California.
So when the fine folks at Longball dispatched PR pro Mark Rogoff to PubClub.com’s World Headquarters in San Diego with a box of products, I was skeptical to try it. In fact, if truth be known, I kept putting it off, afraid that my system would revolt against the combination. After all, iced tea is for daytime and alcohol is for evenings. Combining the two seemed to be as off as a golf shot that lands on the wrong fairway (yes, I’ve had a few of those).
One evening, tho, I decided to quit being wimpy about it so I cracked open a can, poured it into a glass over ice and recorded a TikTok video (see below).

And let me say, I was not only pleasantly surprised by it, I was impressed! It tasted natural as if the ingredients were meant to be together, like tequila and lime juice, bourbon and soda.
I also discovered, quite quickly, that the drink packs quite the alcoholic punch. This is no sissy drink folks; it’s a full-on strong canned (or bottled) cocktail. It may only be 5% AVB, but I was a bit buzzed after drinking just one. It’s also healthy: gluten free, vegan, all natural and 123 calories in a 12-ounce can.
I should have known. After all, Longball is made right here in San Diego and folks in this city are happy, friendly and enjoy having a good time.
Its website is Longball Shooter, and the owners are obviously golfers. Perhaps we can get on the course together and hit the Longball 19th hole afterward. Or whenever I run out of golf balls, whichever comes first.
Now I realize, it’s a FORE-gone conclusion that Longball Hard Iced Tea is a hit with PubClub.com. It’s on par with the best of beverages, a mere chip shot to satisfaction. It could be with you, too.
