Tips On Getting Comfortable In The Campground
Music festival season is definitely a time to party hard but it can also be exhausting.
If you’re heading to any of the UK festivals then you should be prepared for chilly mornings, and, during the daytime, melting inside of a tent. At the other European festivals, you’ll likely find continual hot weather, so be prepared for the conditions.
That heat can make it difficult to sleep at night at the festival campgrounds. Just think about how nice it is when you flip the pillow to the cool side; well, that cool side won’t last long at a summertime festival. We all know that sleeping at festivals can be uncomfortable – for one thing instead of being in a cozy bed you’re lying on a roll mat or a sleeping bag with a warm pillow.
Before we go any further, for a little more guidance on a nice home sleep set up make sure you give this website a read.
Now back to the festivals… Expect noise, condensation and a handful of inconveniences. But, there’s just no way that any of this will get in the way of having a good time, right?
Embrace it all anyway and check out our list of handy tips to get some sleep in between crowd surfing and drinking beers.
1.) What To Pack For Festivals
You’ve got your wellies, your face paint, and your headwear, but there are some other things you need to include in your packing checklist. Make sure that your bag has got these things in it before you leave:
- Earplugs
- An eyemask
- Warm clothes
- A pillow or at least
- A bag for life to stick dirty clothes in
- Socks
- A sleeping bag
- A roll mat
2.) Camp In The Right Spot
This one might be a little trickier, but if you arrive early enough you can scope out the camping areas and choose the ideal spot to pitch your tent. What makes for a good camping spot? Well, you want to get a patch of the camping zone that has some shade
Being able to roll out of the tent in the morning not covered in your own sweat will be awesome.
3.) A Little More On Camping In The Right Spot
Festival campsites can offer some interesting surfaces. The chances are that you won’t be lying on Premier League, NFL-quality fields, so it’s best that you locate a pitch that has some important perks.
Avoid the uneven patches if you can or you’ll likely wake up with your feet on the upslope and blood rushing to your head, which is not what you want after a day and night of partying. Clear away any loose debris before you put up your tent for optimum sleep space, too.
4.) Share Your Space
While some of you might be thinking that having your own tent is ideal, sharing is caring… for your slumber. Basically, when the night gets cooler you will want the extra body heat that comes with sharing a tent.
You can always take a smaller tent along with you to store all the beer and spirits (and smelly shoes) so that you’ve got a cosy sanctuary to fall into after the last act has finished up.
5.) Use The Toilet Before Going To Bed
As you make your way back to the tent with all your friends, old and new, don’t forget to visit to the toilet. The good news here is that there are usually Portaloos dotted in strategic locations that won’t be too far out of your way. After all, the last thing you want is to have to relieve yourself just as you zip up the sleeping bag for a few hours of sleep.
6.) Black Out Your Tent
Tents aren’t known for their ability to keep the light out at night and in the morning. You can get around the natural light beaming through the canvas simply by having a spare tarpaulin to throw over your tent.
It’s the little things that could make the difference and if you can get some extra (well-needed) sleep, then why not take that option? This could help you have a better festival experience if you can sleep off a bit of the hangover!
7.) Make Yourself So Tired You Can’t Do Anything Else But Sleep
This may be the easiest thing to do on this list. You’ll sleep a lot better if you’ve gone full-tilt and partied so hard you could almost fall asleep on your feet. Once you’re reached this point, then you’ve completely worn yourself out and all you can do is lie down and sleep.
So then slide into the sleeping bag and let some slumber work its magic before you get up and do it all over again.
