An Electric Ending to the Electronic Music Party in Sin City
The final night of the 16th annual Electric Daisy Carnival brought 115,000 people to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and they were entertained by pyrotechnics displays on every stage, a fireworks show, music and even a wedding.
Unlike the previous night when high winds hit the area, Sunday’s weather was good, and the event ran without interruption from 7 p.m. to 5:30 in the morning.
In addition to the non-stop music, there were carnival rides, large-scale interactive art installations including Flaming Lotus Girls’ “Serpent Mother” with full-flame displays and character Nigel Ficke wed a couple during the night’s fireworks display.
Insomniac, promoter of the event, also conducted its first “You Are the Headliner” costume contest which gave winners VIP treatment, including helicopter transfers on Maverick Helicopters and nightclub-style hospitality. Fans also became the feature of the festival on the debut “Discovery Stage” where aspiring DJ/Producer contest winners danced the night – or really – the morning – away.
