‘Shaken, Not Stirred’ Drink Celebrates Release Of New Bond Movie ‘Skyfall’
Do you have to be wearing a tuxedo and have a Bond girl – Barbara Bach in “The Spy Who Loved Me” or most certainly Ursula Andress in “Dr. No” would do quite nicely – to enjoy the new James Bond martini offered at London’s Draycott Hotel?
Well, no but it would certainly be a nice bonus.
To celebrate the release of the new Bond film “Skyfall,” the distinctly British Draycott has created a special drink for it, and is offering it complimentary to hotel guests from Oct. 25-Nov. 15.
Naturally, it’s a martini. Vodka, we assume. And it’s shaken, not stirred in true Bond style. In fact, that’s the name of it, the “Shaken, Not Stirred” martini. That Bond catchphrase was first used in “Goldfinger” and is of 007’s most frequent – and famous – quotes.
Part of the reason the Draycott is doing this is because some scenes of the new film which were shot near the hotel.
The “Shaken, Not Stirred” martinis also serve to commemorate the 50th anniversary of James Bond, who first appeared on screen in the 1962’s “Dr. No.” Daniel Craig is once again playing the famous British Secret Service agent. This is the 23rd James Bond film.
“James Bond began to show audiences around the world how thrilling the life of an undercover agent could be,” said Melissa Stoman, General Manager of the Draycott Hotel. “We are happy to be offering complimentary ‘Shaken, Not Stirred’ martinis to our guests to honor the new Skyfall film and the 50th anniversary of this beloved heroic figure.”
The Bar Blogger may never swagger into the Draycott – certainly not with a Barbara Bach or Ursula Andress clone under my arm – but you can check out the hotel’s website at: www.draycotthotel.com.
