The Parades Roll & The Party Rolls On Under Cloudy Conditions
By Kevin Wilkerson, PubClub.com Travel Blogger
The parades roll rain or shine – as does the tremendous party – and the weather forecast for Fat Tuesday in New Orleans is one that will have people dancing in the streets.
The weather will be cloudy and a bit cool, with a high of 67. Yes, no sunshine. But no rain, either. In fact, there is only a small, 10% chance of rain predicted for Tuesday. Humidity – normally a big issue in the Big Easy – is just at 68% in the daytime, rising to 78% by the evening.
The low temperature for Fat Tuesday is just 52 degrees.
While isolated thunderstorms are in the area on Monday, that will give way to overcast conditions on Tuesday. For those still standing after midnight, the skies will begin to clear, paving the way for complete sunshine the end of the week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The street is shoulder-to-shoulder busy and while there are several bars along the way, there are also many places to get “Big Ass Beers” and other alcoholic drinks from stands along the street. There are also to-go drink places throughout the French Quarter, particularly on Duval Street.
If you want on one of the Bourbon Street balconies, you better know someone, for those are reserved in advance (on this day only) and you have to pay to get up on one.
