The Beach Cities Beer Festival, DJs At The LA Times Food Bowl Night Markets & A Parrotheads Party Bus

The Party Report is brought to you by Kona Brewing Company, which is pouring two selections at this weekend’s Beach Cities Beer & Wine Festival. Last year, one of its brews was voted the second-best beer at the festival!
First of all, a happy Mother’s Day Weekend to all your moms! Mine also has her birthday on Friday.
So here’s what’s going on in and around the South Bay this week and weekend.
WEDNESDAY-SUNDAY LOS ANGELES EVENTS
• LA TIMES FOOD BOWL NIGHT MARKET W/DRINKS & DJS
A free event with food and drink vendors and and three to five DJs at Grand Park in DTLA. This is a first-of-its-kind event in LA, kind of a hip twist on the popular night markets in Asia. The hours are 5-10 on Wednesday & Thursday, 5-11 on Friday, 3-11 on Saturday and 3-9 on Sunday.
FRIDAY FRIDAY HERMOSA BEACH EVENTS
• SHARI ‘EL’ PUORTO BIRTHDAY PARTY
Shari is at Standing Room on Friday night and it’s her birthday!!!
SATURDAY LOS ANGELES EVENTS
• NATIONAL COCKTAIL DAY!
Saturday in addition to the below beer festivals, it’s also National Cocktail Day!
2ND ANNUAL BEACH CITIES BEER & WINE FESTIVAL
The big event this weekend is the Beach Cities Beer & Wine Festival, put on by Smackfest Events. After it sold out, 100 more tickets were added which means it’s going to be an even bigger party! It goes from 2:30-6:30 p.m. And the weather is looking pretty good – mostly sunny with a high of 68.

‘MARKET 90254’ FOOD, ARTS & SPIRITS FESTIVAL
If you still have that festival feeling, then there’s a second one Saturday. It’s called the Market 90254 Food, Arts & Spirits Festival put on by Leadership Hermosa. It’s at Cypress & 6th Street, and in addition to food and drinks, this one features music from locals Barley, Barclay Roach and Angry Donkey. It’s $35 for the food and adult drink samples and goes from 3-7 p.m. If you’re really spirited, you could sprint from the Smackfest one to this one. Advance tickets at:
• PARROTHEADS PARTY BUS
Party with a purpose, they call it. The Los Angeles Parrothead Club is flocking on board a double-decker party bus for a day of bar-hopping in Long Beach. There’s beer, champagne and margaritas on board. Cost is $25. It meets at 1 p.m. Here’s details:

SUNDAY LOS ANGELES EVENTS
• MOTHER’S DAY
Yeah to moms everywhere! By the way, can you find the sock I lost in the laundry this week? Yes, AGAIN!
Looking for South Bay suggestions? BALEENKitchen at the Portofino is still undergoing renovations but think about R10 Social House, which has a nice restaurant with a great view and bottomless mimosas until 3. Shade Hotel has two levels of carving stations in Redondo Beach and is also serving brunch in Manhattan Beach ($75).
If you’re going to be in “the OC,” here’s two places to take mom, one on the water with bottomless mimosas and another at a classy and classic restaurant:
• ADLT SWM ADULT POOL PARTY
The first of a series of summertime (or close enough for now, right!?) pool parties for adults in L.A. , starts Sunday. Think Vegas pool parties without having to go to Vegas. This one is at the Rosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. It has six DJs, pool toys mermaids and, of course, cocktails. And get this – it’s free! They do ask you register in advance:
