For those in the LA Beach Cities, Berry Bly is holding his annual Kentucky Derby Party at Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach. $20 and tickets are here.
For those who want a little exercise before they socialize, Ray Dussalt and his 33 North Productions are hosting a Cinco de Drinko beach volleyball tournament in Hermosa Beach with an after-party at Patrick Molly’s. To enter you’ll need to contact Ray via e-mail at: [email protected],

Fun Events In San Diego: A Cajun Festival & Tacos & Tequila
One of the many things that makes San Diego such a fun place is the fact that there are events nearly every single weekend.
For example, this Sunday is a Cajun Festival which is like being in New Orleans and at JazzFest for those of us who are not at the real thing. Gator By The Bay has seven stages of bands, jambalaya, gumbo, fresh crawfish and all the flavors and sounds of the Big Easy. It runs Friday thru Sunday at Spanish Landing, a scenic park that runs along the back bay from Harbor Island.

The next Saturday, another waterfront location is hosting SoCal TacoFest, an event with more live music, all the tacos you can eat and all the beer and tequila you should drink. It is at Waterfront Park, which is right smack downtown with a view of San Diego Bay.

Mother’s Day

Don’t forget to call mom on Sunday or, if you live near her, go see her and take her out to lunch or dinner. Or, for something beautiful and different, in addition to giving her flowers, take her to a place full of flowers, the Carlsbad (CA) Flower Fields.

Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville Cruise

If you’re a Son of A Son of a Sailor – or just a Parrothead in general – then a Jimmy Buffett-themed cruise ship is now underway. This is no small sailing boat Buffett has taken around Florida and the Caribbean, but a 10-deck cruise ship with Buffett themes ranging from Frank and Lola’s Pizzeria, the Port of Indecision Buffet, LandShark Sports Bar, Margaritaville Coffee & Pastry Shop, the Euphoria Lounge, the Sunset Bar, and, of course, a 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar.
