High Fashion Replaces Jeans At Crimson Tide Games And Tuscaloosa Bars

Wear jeans to football games and college bars? Not at the University of Alabama, where the girls dress as if they are attending the Academy awards rather than attendinga game or a night out in Tuscaloosa.
Their sense of style is amazing. Their choice of outfits – the accessories, the subtle touches like a sexy thin chain around an exposed waist – shows great attention to detail. Heck, even on hot football Saturdays, they seem not to sweat.
The girls at the University Alabama dress as if they are attending a high-fashion event like the Academy Awards or the Cannes Film Festival, even if they are going out on a Friday night or to a Crimson Tide football game on Saturday. They treat these times as occasions and in the proper South, women dress up for occasions.
Alabama girls have always had style. When I was in college there, I wondered why they did not wear, say, jeans to the games. I came from Knoxville, TN, where University of Tennessee girls wore jeans to the games. It’s that way on Rocky Top but not at the Capstone.
When I go there, I kind of feel out of place, style-wise anyway, wearing my PubClub.com KEEP BAMA PARTYING or KEEP SAN DIEGO PARTYING t-shirt (they really like this one) and shorts. But they don’t seem to mind. In fact, they remember me each year because of that shirt. Plus, it’s better than the men they are used to seeing there. The drunk college boys dress like, well, drunk college boys.
I have a lot of respect for the girls at Alabama for the way they dress and also how they carry themselves. Even after a few – sometimes several – cocktails, they maintain their dignity. It’s as if they never want to embarrass themselves. This is not to say they are stuck-up prudes and don’t have fun. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
This is most evident when it comes to the Crimson Tide. In the blink of an eye, they can suddenly roar like an elephant in the African safari with a “Roll Tide.” They chat the “Rammer Jammer” cheer and at the slightest prompt will break start singing “Dixieland Delight,” complete with shaking crimson and white shaker so violently you don’t want to get hit in the face with one.

They put those shakers in cowboy boots on game days, by the way. Nearly every girl at Alabama games wears cowboy boots on Saturdays. This is a trend throughout the entire SEC, as well. At first, I thought it was for fashion but I learned it’s for something else, something security guards at the stadiums have become aware of, too, if you get my drift.
So Roll Tide girls. I approve.
