Redondo Beach Cupid Singles Event, MixaGoGo Mixer, Hermosa Beach Nightlife News & Smackfest Events Schedule

Welcome to the PubClub.com South Bay Party Report – Valentine’s Day Edition!
The Party Report is brought to you by Kona Brewing Company, makers of that excellent beer from Hawaii that’s full of liquid aloha. There’s a new beer now on tap at Shellback Tavern to try out, Hanalei Island IPA; that’s a great excuse to go into “the Shell!”
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY & 10K RECAP
Okay, that first beer came early! In fact, it was at bout 9:15 a.m.
And after leaving Hennessey’s we were greeted by a mimosa stand at the entrance to the Esplande! It was all downhill from there – well except for THE Hill near the end of the course – at the Redondo 10K. From there it was the beer garden, then our group took full advantage of the post-race $3 beers at The Slip, popped into salute our veterans at the VFW, then split up to go to various bars and house parties.
I wound up playing a game I had never heard of before, “Thunderstruck” in which people gather in a circle and drink in turns every time the word “Thunderstruck” is sang in the AC/DC song.
At a house party, I wound up playing a game I had never heard of before, “Thunderstruck” in which people gather in a circle and drink in turns every time the word “Thunderstruck” is sang in the AC/DC song. Funny thing, I got “caught” during the instrumental part and had to keep drinking my beer! As I was draining my Kona Big Wave, someone tried to hand me a Coors Light but oh NO! I waved it off like a referee waving off a penalty flag. I was going to keep drinking a Kona, not a danged Coors Light!
What a fun Super Bowl Sunday in the South Bay!
Below is a video recap of the 10K including, of course, our stops:

SATURDAY: VALENTINE’S DAY SINGLES EVENT
Check out this cool Valentine’s event for singles on Saturday called A Room Full Of Cupids. It was described to PubClub as “Tinder meets Dating Game meets Love Connection.” Perhaps even better, your $20 to go to it (and take part in it if you like) includes an open bar! Here’s deets:

MONDAY: MIXAGOGO KICKOFF PARTY MIXER
How about that 310YP mixer last Thursday at Shade Redondo!? It was one of the best in a long time. And if you still are in the mood to “mix it up,” so to speak, head to the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center on Monday for the MixaGogo 2017 kickoff party. This is a group that does events and this one has drinks, small bites, games and entertainment in a networking environment. It’s $20 and everything is included. Register in advance and see its other events at: mixagogo.com
TUESDAY: VALENTINE’S DAY
If you’re single, this is one of the best nights of the year to go to the bars (it’s also Taco Tuesday)! Sharkeez has all kinds of drink specials, including Heartache Jell-O shots, plus a photo booth contest and other things to win cash and prizes.
If you’re not single and are looking for a good romantic place to take your date, a few suggestions are BALEENKithchen in King Harbor (try and get one of the fire pit tables!), the restaurant at Old Tony’s (yes they have one; this place is not just for Fire Chiefs!), Mangiamo in Manhattan Beach (sit in the very back of it) and on the nice-but-low-key side, Old Venice in Manhattan Beach.
By the way, a recent survey by an on-line flower retailer found that Los Angeles is the most expensive place in the world for Valentine’s Day. Check out these prices – whoa!

SMACKFEST EVENTS 2017

Smackfest Events has released its events calendar for 2017 and guess what – Smackfest has moved to June! The Beach Cities Wine & Beer Festival is back for its second year and so, too, is its Oktoberfest party. That, plus volleyball and kickball classes and leagues can all be found in this one tidy post on PubClub:

PUBCLUB.COM PARTY REPORT FEATURED BAR OF THE WEEK – ARNOLD’S DIVE TIKI BAR, WAIKIKI BEACH
A Party Report subscriber had a great suggestion: to feature a bar around the world in each issue! Naturally, I loved the thought and I’m actually going to take it one step further by also including destinations and events.
So for the debut, I’m featuring Arnold’s Tiki Bar in Waikiki Beach. This is a dive tiki bar on the edge of Waikiki that’s pure locals and visitors in the know – it has a patio, a tiki interior at the bar and an upstairs in a total casual kicked-back (enter only in flip flops) environment. Heck, it’s Happy Hour starts at 9 PM! Here’s more on this great find.
